What you accomplished in the Green and Growing stage was what Patrick refers to as ‘kindergarten horsemanship’ – it’s barely the tip of the iceberg. The Mellow Yellow stage is where you and your horse develop into solid working partners.
You’ll achieve communication and control without being connected to your horse by ropes. You’ll explore higher levels of possibility with your horse. Communication takes on a new level of sophistication and connection.
Your cues will become lighter as you and your horse develop in sensitivity, responsibility, and confidence. Rhythm, impulsion, balance, and suppleness will come together as key ingredients to true collection.
