Lessons and Hourly Training
Private Lessons/Hourly Horse Training: Work on your specific challenges, goals, or troubles. $45/hour at our facility, $50/hour at your facility (additional travel charge may apply depending on distance).
Semi-Private Lessons: Working with the specific challenges, goals, or troubles of up to 3 students at one time. $35/hour/student at our facility, $40/hour/student at your facility (additional travel charge may apply depending on distance).
Workshops: Workshops are a great way to coordinate a number of private or semi-private lessons in one day. The day’s schedule can be set up to accommodate the needs of all the students involved. Download our Workshop Hosting Information.

Colt Starting
From the first moment you introduce yourself to a horse, you are teaching him how to treat you and how to interact with the world when you’re with him. Feel and timing are everything with a horse. This is true from the ground as well as from the saddle. Patrick’s approach focuses on presenting yourself to a horse in the best way that suits the horse – so you can help him to be confident, light, and responsive and to have a positive attitude. A horse needs to learn what it takes to be with us and around us in a positive and productive frame of mind and body.
From the first saddling, to the first ride, colt starting can be an art. Having your horse started under saddle should be an investment in his future. A solid foundation, based on mutual trust, respect, and communication, is absolutely necessary for every horse, no matter the breed, discipline, age or experience. Using the principles of ‘natural horsemanship’, your horse will get the best start possible, and will develop the best foundation possible. Patrick’s goal is to get the horse mentally right so that it can be physically right.

Foundation Training
A child doesn’t just develop from infant to adult. Neither does a horse just develop from a ‘green colt’ to a finished performance horse. The more solid the foundation and preparation, the more successful the outcome will be for the horse and rider.
Patrick King’s Green to Gold Foundation program will set the stage for your horse to be a solid working partner no matter the discipline you want to pursue. Stage one focuses on getting the horse confident with carrying the saddle and rider, and safe to ride both in the arena and out on the trail. Stage two focuses more on getting the horse emotionally confident and relaxed, more sure about following your seat cues and leg aides, and more responsive and responsible. Stage three is more about accuracy and finesse. It involves more physical collection and higher-level development. One a horse is through the third stage in Patrick’s foundation program, the fourth stage is where specialization to your particular discipline starts. By now, your horse has a Solid Gold foundation.

Problem Solving
Trailer loading issues, bucking problems, confidence and fear issues, riding or ground handling problems… Patrick’s experience and insight can help solve most any problems and challenges you might be encountering with your horse.

Long Term Private Study
Just as Patrick will take in horses for monthly training, it is possible to coordinate a personalized program for your own foundation training. From as little as two weeks to as long as you want to invest your time, you chose the time frame and itinerary. You’ll need to bring your own horse (or horses, depending on how much time you want to spend).

3-Day Clinics
Have Horsemanship, Will Travel.
Horsemanship clinics are coordinated to focus on specific stages of development for you and your horse.
A Fundamental Clinic focuses on teaching the rider what they need to be doing in order to get the best responses from their horse. Things like seat development, rein management, ground skills, general and specific riding tasks to develop the rider’s skills, focus, timing, and feel.
Horsemanship Clinics are set up to focus on the stages of Patrick King’s Green to Gold Foundation program. Horsemanship 1 focuses on the tasks and skills required for Stage 1, Green and Growing. Horsemanship 2 focuses on the tasks and skills required for Stage 2, Mellow Yellow. Horsemanship 3 focuses on the tasks and skills required for Stage 3, True Blue.
Additionally, clinics can be coordinated to focus on specific needs, goals, and interests for your area.

5-Day Horsemanship Courses
5-day Horsemanship Courses are set up to focus on the individual stages of the Green to Gold Foundation program. Additionally, Trail Horsemanship courses prove to be a great experience for riders and horses, exposing them to many situations; from mountain rides, to road riding, water crossings, and highly varied terrains.
